SupraFAXmodem V32bis, and other modems based on the Rockwell chipset support "adaptive answering" only with firmware version "H" or higher. All earlier versions don't support that feature, but answers "OK" when a LineShare script tries to switch it on. So, the script program cannot detect the type of incoming calls.

  3. To detect the version of ROM in your Rockwell-based modem, use any terminal emulator that allows you to send AT-commands directly to your modem.

  6. The modem answers with a string that looks like:
  7. 1200 C xxxx
  8. OK
  9. The first letter ("C" in this sample) indicates the version of ROM. If it is less than "H", your modem doesn't have "adaptive answering" properly implemented.
  10. Supra Corp. provides its SupraFAXModem users with free ROM upgrades.

  12. When using FaxSTF with these modems, select the Class 2 software (FaxSTF defaults to the Class 1). Follow the instructions in the FaxSTF Installer panel, install the Class 2 driver for Rockwell144AC-based modems.
